Trial Counsel for Man Charged with Vehicular Homicide Against State of Florida

We represented a 34-year-old man charged with vehicular homicide following a fatal high-speed crash in Marion County, Florida, in 2021. The prosecution built its case with testimony from law enforcement officers with the Ocala Police Department and Florida Highway Patrol, as well as the medical examiner who performed the autopsy.

Our defense team challenged the state’s interpretation of the crash, arguing that the prosecution failed to meet the legal threshold for vehicular homicide. We introduced expert testimony showing that, even at the posted speed limit, the collision was likely unavoidable and not the result of reckless behavior. Faced with the possibility of a 15-year prison sentence, our client was found not guilty by a jury, preserving his freedom and future.
