Trial Counsel for a Former Executive Accused of Capital Sexual Battery

We represented a former software executive in his 60s who was charged with capital sexual battery based solely on the sworn testimony of his adult niece, who alleged he had abused her during family trips to Disney World more than 20 years earlier, in 2001 and 2002. Despite the absence of any physical evidence and the client’s clean record, the severity of the charge carried a mandatory life sentence if convicted.

Our team conducted an extensive national investigation in coordination with multiple former FBI agents, uncovering significant credibility concerns involving the accuser, including a long-documented history of mental health issues and a pattern of false statements over many years. Through strategic litigation, including multiple motions to dismiss, we demonstrated the lack of reliable evidence supporting the prosecution’s claims. Ultimately, the state dismissed all charges, sparing our client from the possibility of life imprisonment and clearing his name.
